Recap: Elk Grove vs. Franklin

In their previous meeting, Elk Grove routed Franklin 49 - 7. While not characterized by quite the same dominating performance, the rematch ultimately ended up the same way. Even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Elk Grove beat Franklin 30 - 26 last week. The win came about thanks to a strong surge after the third quarter to overcome a deficit of eight points.

Elk Grove's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 18 points in the first half. That put it at a 18 - 13 advantage. It was outscored 13 to 12 in the second half but capitalized on its first-half cushion.

The win bumped Elk Grove's record up to 5-4. The defeat dropped Franklin's record to 6-3.

The teams are out to raise these records in their next games. Franklin will face off against Pleasant Grove Friday at 7:00 PM. Franklin has been struggling to collect any significant yardage in its past three games, and the team will need to fix this ASAP if it wants to prevent more slippage.
