Basketball Game Preview: Cypress Centurions vs. Bishop Manogue Miners

The Cypress Centurions and the Bishop Manogue Miners will face off at 3:50 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Cypress picked up another tournament win on Thursday. They came out on top against Del Norte by a score of 63-53. Given the Centurions' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Nighthawks are ranked 661st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Bishop Manogue didn't have too much trouble with Tri-City Christian on Thursday as they won 61-43. That's two games straight that the Miners have won by exactly 18 points.

Cypress better focus on containing Eli Benna and Liam Sorensen as the pair were huge in Bishop Manogue's win. Benna went 7 for 12 on his way to 15 points in addition to six assists and five boards, while Sorensen went 7 of 10 on his way to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Westphal, who posted eight points and five rebounds.

Bishop Manogue now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Cypress, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
