Basketball Recap: Sam Paske Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Waverly

After losing to Waverly the last time they met, Chenango Forks decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Chenango Forks Blue Devils managed a 44-38 victory over the Waverly Wolverines on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.

Chenango Forks got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sam Paske out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 boards. Paske continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Ethan Vaseleck was another key player, putting up seven points along with five assists and three blocks.

Chenango Forks smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive matches.

Chenango Forks has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-11 record this season. As for Waverly, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-6.

Chenango Forks will take on Chenango Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Waverly, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Owego Free Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday.
