Basketball Game Preview: Swansboro Pirates vs. Lejeune Devilpups

The Swansboro Pirates will challenge the Lejeune Devilpups at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Lejeune took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Swansboro, who comes in off a win.

Swansboro is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Tuesday. They walked away with a 59-52 victory over Ashley.

Among those leading the charge was Fletcher Panos, who shot 58% from the field to rack up 18 points and four steals. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in rebounds (three). Connor May was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 13 points and nine boards.

Swansboro was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They racked up seven more assists than Ashley's also-impressive total of ten.

Meanwhile, Lejeune had to start their season on the road on Wednesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 72-54 bruising from Dixon.

Everything came up roses for Swansboro against Lejeune in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 94-47 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Devilpups' Devon Charles, who went 10-for-21 en route to 27 points. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Pirates to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
