Basketball Preview: Owens Valley Cubs vs. Lone Pine Golden Eagles
The Owens Valley Cubs are on the road again on Tuesday and plays the Lone Pine Golden Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on February 6th.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 72-17, which was the final score in Owens Valley's tilt against the Tornadoes on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Owens Valley in their matchups with the Tornadoes: they've now lost six in a row.
Meanwhile, Lone Pine came tearing into Thursday's match with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Big Pine 71-45. Lone Pine has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 21 points or more this season.
Ralph Enriquez and Alfonso Castro were among the main playmakers for Lone Pine as the former dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds and the latter scored eight points along with ten assists and five steals. Enriquez also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cristian Duran, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Owens Valley's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Lone Pine, their win bumped their record up to 14-3.
