Softball Game Preview: Galena Pirates vs. Dakota Indians

The Galena Pirates will face off against the Dakota Indians at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Galena barely beat Milledgeville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Pirates' pitchers stepped up to hand the Missiles an 8-0 shutout on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Missiles: they've now won seven in a row.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Dakota walked away with it. They blew past Pecatonica 11-0 on Friday. The result was nothing new for Dakota, who have now won 17 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Dakota has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Galena, their victory bumped their record up to 18-7.

Galena suffered a grim 9-3 defeat to Dakota in their previous meeting on May 2nd. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
