Basketball Recap: West Las Vegas Snags Sixth Victory in Last Seven Games

Hope Christian came into Friday's match looking for another win against West Las Vegas, but Alexis Pacheco wouldn't allow it. The West Las Vegas Dons secured a 59-53 W over the Hope Christian Huskies on Friday thanks in part to Pacheco, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine boards. Her afternoon made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Kara Morgan, who posted five points. That's the most points she has posted since back in February of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Hope Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bri Bishop almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Bishop is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Louisa Landavazo, who earned 11 points.

West Las Vegas has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Hope Christian, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-8.

West Las Vegas has already played their next game, a 56-50 defeat against Los Lunas on the 18th. As for Hope Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 47-46 win against Artesia on the 18th.
