Softball Recap: Bentworth Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Bentworth and Neshannock squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Bentworth had to settle for second. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lancers. The Bearcats' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Sydney Gonglik spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

Bentworth's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Neshannock, the win keeps they at an undefeated 21-0.

Bentworth does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Neshannock, they will face off against Chartiers-Houston on Wednesday. The Buccaneers' pitching crew has only allowed 1.1 runs per game this season, so the Lancers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
