Soccer Recap: Independence Triumphs + How To Watch

Independence was handed a three-goal defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Palisades Pumas 3-2. Independence found success even though the refs didn't miss a thing: Thomas Florez and Jose Chirinos were both handed yellow cards.

Jackson Finney and Mark Verret scored all three of Independence's goals, bringing their combined season tally to four goals.

Independence's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Palisades, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Independence will challenge West Mecklenburg at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Palisades, they will square off against Ashbrook at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ashbrook's last three games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
