There's no place like home for Stone Memorial, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They had just enough and edged out the DeKalb County Tigers 5-4 on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Panthers: when they faced off against the Tigers last Friday, they had to take a 6-5 defeat.

Kenzie Jackson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cadence Cox was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Ashely Whittenburg, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Stone Memorial's record now sits at 10-2. As for DeKalb County, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 10-6.

Stone Memorial and DeKalb County should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. The Panthers will square off against Cumberland County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (113 vs. 258). Meanwhile, DeKalb County (ranked 45th) will meet Upperman (ranked 240th) at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
