Baseball Game Preview: North Moore Mustangs vs. Chatham Central Bears

For the second straight game, North Moore will face off against Chatham Central. The Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, North Moore turned things around against Chatham Central on Friday. They put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 7-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

John Carre made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because North Moore is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-8 otherwise. Carre was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dawson Futrell, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of North Moore's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is undefeated (and 4-9 when he doesn't). Cade Clewis was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Chatham Central's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-14. As for North Moore, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.
