Basketball Recap: Washington Leadership Academy Takes a Loss

Washington Leadership Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the KIPP DC Legacy College Prep Bulldogs, falling 77-50. Washington Leadership Academy was probably out for revenge after losing 69-33 to them when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Several Washington Leadership Academy players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Amari Clarke, who posted 23 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Clarke's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Pinnock, who had nine points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Washington Leadership Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Washington Leadership Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for KIPP DC Legacy College Prep, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Washington Leadership Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-46 victory against Ron Brown on the 14th. As for KIPP DC Legacy College Prep, they will head out to square off against Idea at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. KIPP DC Legacy College Prep has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
