Melrose never let their opponents score on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Wakefield Memorial Warriors 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Red Raiders have posted since April 2nd.

Melrose has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Wakefield Memorial, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4-1.
