Basketball Recap: Rock Academy Warriors vs. Calvin Christian Crusaders
Rock Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 51-44 to the Calvin Christian Crusaders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Crusaders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-43 back in January.
Despite the loss, Rock Academy still got an impressive performance from James Whitley, who posted 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That was a full 40.9% of Rock Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Roland Balderramos, who earned ten points.
Caleb Lapka was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 24 points and ten boards for Calvin Christian. Lapka is becoming a predictor of Calvin Christian's success: when he posts at least ten rebounds the team is 7-3 (and 5-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Sawyer Goggin, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards.
Rock Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-24. As for Calvin Christian, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-10.
