Basketball Game Preview: Southside Panthers vs. Dallas County Hornets

The Southside Panthers will square off against the Dallas County Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Southside is headed into Thursday's game hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They took a hard 60-46 fall against Georgiana on Monday.

Meanwhile, Dallas County waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 55-38 victory over the Trojans.

Southside better keep an eye on Joshua Davis III. He was instrumental in Dallas County's win, going 12 for 18 on his way to 33 points and eight rebounds. Davis III has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times he's played. Mike Hosea was another key player, putting up four points and nine rebounds.

Dallas County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Southside, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.

Everything came up roses for Southside against Dallas County in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 71-35 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southside since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
