Basketball Recap: Alton Comes Up Short

Alton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-38 heartbreaker at the hands of the Willow Springs Bears. The Comets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Alton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Willow Springs, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alton will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Ellington at 6:00 p.m. on January 21, 2025. Willow Springs also won't see the court for a while: their next match is against Gainesville at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
