Bailey Harris and Alexandra Vandiver secure win for St. Mary's

Recap: St. Mary's Saints vs. Roland Park Country Reds

The St. Mary's Saints won the last time they faced the Roland Park Country Reds, and things went their way on Friday too. St. Mary's narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Roland Park Country 56-53. Given St. Mary's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Roland Park Country is ranked 83rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. Mary's was led to victory by Bailey Harris and Alexandra Vandiver. Harris scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and five assists, while Vandiver dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Harris hasn't dropped below 15 points for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Baily Walden, who scored 11 points along with two steals.

St. Mary's has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Roland Park Country, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-11.

St. Mary's won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Pikesville at 4:30 p.m. on January 27th. Pikesville is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games. As for Roland Park Country, they will head out on the road to challenge Concordia Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
