Baseball Recap: Saginaw's Losing Streak Snapped at 19 Games

Saginaw came into Thursday's matchup having lost 19 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Chisholm Trail Rangers 4-3 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rough Riders have posted since April 13, 2024.

Grayson Chancellor made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Vincent Gonzalez, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Izaiah Zepeda, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Saginaw's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-9 and their overall record up to 4-23-1. As for Chisholm Trail, their record now sits at 8-13.

Coming up, Saginaw will challenge Fossil Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chisholm Trail does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
