The Abingdon/Avon Tornadoes will challenge the ROWVA/Williamsfield Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Abingdon/Avon fell victim to Mercer County and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 9-0 to the Golden Eagles. The Tornadoes haven't had much luck with the Golden Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but ROWVA/Williamsfield ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Orion 6-5. The win was nothing new for the Cougars as they're now sitting on six straight.
Hannah Gehring spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on ten hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ella Rigg was excellent, going 3-for-5 with three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Hazel Walters, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.
