Baseball Game Preview: Malakoff Tigers vs. Hughes Springs Mustangs

The Malakoff Tigers will square off against the Hughes Springs Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Malakoff 4.1, Hughes Springs 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Malakoff is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They won by a run and slipped past White Oak 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since February 22nd.

Zain Jones was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Malakoff's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 9-11 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Hughes Springs ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past Atlanta 6-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

Malakoff has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season. As for Hughes Springs, their win bumped their record up to 22-6.
