Basketball Recap: Southern Alamance Takes a Loss

Southern Alamance was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They took a 43-27 bruising from the Providence Grove Patriots. That's two games in a row now that Southern Alamance has lost by exactly 16 points.

Despite the loss, Southern Alamance still got an impressive performance from Sarah Kathryn Maness, who posted 14 points along with eight boards and three steals. That was a full 51.9% of Southern Alamance's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Holloway, who had six points and ten rebounds.

Southern Alamance's loss dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Providence Grove, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southern Alamance will head out to face off against Orange at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Orange is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.1 points per game this season. As for Providence Grove, they will take on Randleman at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Providence Grove is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
