Baseball Recap: Westfield Victorious

Westfield is still undefeated this season after their game against Johnson on Thursday, but Johnson came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Blue Devils sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Crusaders. That's more bragging rights for the Blue Devils, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Grant Como tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over 6.2 innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

Westfield pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Johnson, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-3.

Coming up, Westfield will welcome Somerville at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Johnson, they will head out on the road to take on Bernards at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
