Basketball Recap: Chipley Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

It was a proper cat-fight when Chipley took on Central on Friday. The Chipley Tigers walked away with a 68-55 win over the Central Jaguars. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Despite the defeat, Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Carson Baxley dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten boards. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for Baxley. Quincy Wilson also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Chipley's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.

Chipley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 55-37 win against Franklin County on the 1st. As for Central, they will face off against Laurel Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season.
