Melbourne Central Catholic's loss ends five-game winning streak at home

It was a good run, but the Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of Mater Brighton Lakes Academy by a score of 49-46. Melbourne Central Catholic was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mater Brighton Lakes Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.

Melbourne Central Catholic's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tristan Hamilton, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Hamilton also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Hayden Deane, who scored 21 points.

Mater Brighton Lakes Academy can attribute much of their success to Justin Tuftan, who scored 17 points along with seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tuftan has scored all season. Jeremiah Pierre- louis was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds.

Melbourne Central Catholic's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-1. As for Mater Brighton Lakes Academy, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4.

Melbourne Central Catholic will play host again and welcome Florida Prep, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mater Brighton Lakes Academy is on the road again on Friday and play against McLaughlin at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th.
