Covina was handed a 35-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 28-27 photo finish over the Santa Fe Chiefs. The Colts have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Chiefs, too.

Covina had a senior duo take command as Roy Vazquez threw for 312 yards and three TDs and Matt Olivas picked up 179 receiving yards and three scores. Those 312 passing yards set a new season-high mark for Vazquez.

Covina now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Santa Fe, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Covina wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 49-27 loss against Chino on the 3rd. As for Santa Fe, they have also already played their next contest, a 34-12 victory against Whittier on the 3rd.
