Baseball Game Preview: Westfield Mustangs vs. Dekaney Wildcats

The Westfield Mustangs will challenge the Dekaney Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westfield has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the third.

Things were looking good for Westfield after they put the first points on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 12-7 to Spring, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Austin Edwards made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Dekaney came up short against Aldine on Wednesday and fell 4-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost four in a row.

Michael Hayes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed over his last five games.

At the plate, Dekaney saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adrian Martinez, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Dekaney's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Westfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.
