Basketball Game Preview: Abraham Lincoln Railsplitters vs. Northeast Vikings

The Abraham Lincoln Railsplitters will face off against the Northeast Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Abraham Lincoln knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Northeast likes a good challenge.

Abraham Lincoln took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 74-59 victory over Frankford.

Abraham Lincoln's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chris Barr, who posted 22 points. Those 22 points gave Barr a new career-high. Taylan Montgomery was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Meanwhile, Northeast came up short against Bensalem on Saturday and fell 57-47. The loss continues a trend for the Vikings in their meetings with the Fighting Owls: they've now lost three in a row.

Defeat or not, Northeast got some senior leadership from Tahir Williams and James Walker. Williams went 5-for-10 to rack up 15 points and five boards, while Walker shot 56% from the field en route to 13 points. Walker also set a new season-high mark in three-point shooting accuracy with 60%. Another player making a difference was Bryheem Brown, who scored eight points and six rebounds.

Northeast's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Abraham Lincoln, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Abraham Lincoln beat Northeast 67-58 in their previous matchup back in January. Will the Railsplitters repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
