Basketball Recap: Hampton Bays' Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

Hampton Bays entered their match against Kings Park on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Hampton Bays Baymen took a 51-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kings Park Kingsmen. While losing is never fun, the Baymen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 301st, while the Kingsmen are ranked 134th).

Gianna Zawol was her usual excellent self, going 7 for 13 on her way to 21 points and four steals for Kings Park. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Zawol has scored at least a third of Kings Park's points. Another player making a difference was Emily Clemens, who posted eight points in addition to 11 boards and four steals.

Hampton Bays' defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-2. As for Kings Park, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-3.

Hampton Bays does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Kings Park, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-48 win against Sayville on the 24th.
