Baseball Game Preview: Hargrave Military Academy Tigers vs. Miller School of Albemarle Mavericks

Hargrave Military Academy hasn't had much luck against Miller School of Albemarle recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Tigers are taking a road trip to take on the Mavericks at 5:00 p.m.

Hargrave Military Academy is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They fell 6-1 to Carlisle. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Hargrave Military Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michael Delaney, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Miller School of Albemarle came tearing into Tuesday's game with 13 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Cardinals by a score of 5-0. Five seems to be a good number for the Mavericks as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Miller School of Albemarle also got a great performance from Kason Wagner as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Wagner has posted since back in March.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jack Warrington, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Gabe Proctor, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Miller School of Albemarle's win was their 26th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Hargrave Military Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Hargrave Military Academy might still be hurting after the 18-0 defeat they got from Miller School of Albemarle when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
