Baseball Recap: Danbury Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Danbury, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Open Door Christian Patriots on Friday. The Lakers not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 18th (when they won 10-0).

Tommy Dean was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Logan Lucas, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Taylor Monak was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

With the win, Danbury broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-16. As for Open Door Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.

Danbury will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Lakota at 11:00 a.m. The Lakers are facing the Raiders at the right time seeing as the Raiders are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Open Door Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge Elyria at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
