Baseball Recap: Corning Cardinals vs. Gridley Bulldogs
Corning extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 2-14 in the process. They fell 6-2 to the Gridley Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-2 on Tuesday.
As for Gridley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games.
For Gridley's part, the team relied heavily on Aceson Gomez, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most runs Gomez has posted since back in March. Richard Villalobos also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Corning will host Live Oak at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
