Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Reed). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Hug Hawks 42-6 on the road. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Nevada football rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Hawks are ranked 64th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Reed to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shaysan Rivero, who picked up 75 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in total yards. Nishaan Bajwa was another key signal caller, throwing for 154 yards and two touchdowns on only nine passes.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Reed's defense and their six sacks. In that department, Mitchell Bertolino was the leader with two. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up two sacks and making four total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Reed's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Hug, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Reed will face off against Damonte Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Reed's defense has only allowed 16.5 points per game this season, so Damonte Ranch's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Hug, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Carson at 7:00 p.m. on September 20th.
