Football Recap: Bloomingdale Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Preston Beckham and Sammy Zelaya

After flying high against Robinson last Friday, Bloomingdale came back down to earth. The Bulls took a 20-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Riverview Sharks on Friday. Despite 68 more yards than the Sharks, the Bulls couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Sammy Zelaya and Preston Beckham certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Zelaya rushed for 55 yards and one TD, while Beckham gained 147 total yards and a touchdown. Beckham showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 55 yards.

Even if they lost, Bloomingdale's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Dexter Snyder was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making seven total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Carter Peternell was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 61 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries, and also threw for 102 yards while completing 75% of his passes.

Bloomingdale has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Riverview, they pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coming up, Bloomingdale will face off against Strawberry Crest at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Riverview, they will take on Armwood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Sharks will need to watch out since the Hawks have now posted at least 31 points in their last six games.
