Softball Recap: Plano West Victorious

While Plano West's win against Allen wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Plano West Wolves won by a run and slipped past the Allen Eagles 3-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Marlee Flanigan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Plano West's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Andrea Carrillo, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Plano West's record now sits at 9-6. As for Allen, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11-1.

Looking ahead, Plano West will head out on the road to face off against Princeton at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Plano West is facing Princeton at the right time seeing as Princeton is stuck on a four-game losing streak. We've got a battle between Eagles coming up. Prosper will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Allen surely won't give up without a fight.
