Mt. Whitney has been on a difficult stretch since their win on the second. They fell just short of the Porterville Panthers by a score of 2-1 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Pioneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 654th, while the Panthers are ranked 195th).

Mt. Whitney suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 5-5-5. As for Porterville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Whitney will square off against Redwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mt. Whitney's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
