Softball Game Preview: Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna Broncos vs. Liberty Lancers

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna is 1-9 against Liberty since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Broncos will welcome the Lancers at 2:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna lost 25-10 to Connell on Friday. The Broncos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Liberty, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Medical Lake on Friday. Considering the Lancers have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Jordyn Jeske made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Sadie Stout and Haylee Mitzimberg did most of the damage at the plate: Stout went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Mitzimberg went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Riley Kelley, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Liberty lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Liberty's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
