Football Recap: San Pedro Takes a Loss

After flying high against Bell last Friday, San Pedro came back down to earth. The Pirates came up short against the El Modena Vanguards on Thursday, falling 34-14. The Pirates were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-0.

Although San Pedro took the loss, they still got scores from Elias Redlew and Jaxon Brown.

El Modena's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ethan Sorenson, who threw for 137 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 67 yards on only eight carries. What's more, Sorenson racked up 106.6 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Arnol Correa was Sorenson's top target, picking up 18 receiving yards.

San Pedro now has a losing record of 2-3. As for El Modena, their record now sits at an identical 2-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Pedro will venture away from home to square off against Laguna Beach at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Breakers have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for El Modena, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Trabuco Hills at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
