Softball Recap: Speedway Takes a Loss

Speedway came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 16-2 to the Covenant Christian Warriors. The Sparkplugs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Speedway saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Laney Jarrett, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Speedway's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Covenant Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Speedway will face off against rival Triton Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Covenant Christian is set to square off against their familiar foe Indianapolis Lutheran at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
