Baseball Game Preview: McLane Highlanders vs. Sanger Apaches

The McLane Highlanders will take on the Sanger Apaches at 3:10 p.m. on Saturday.

McLane managed to slip by Sunnyside the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Highlanders lost 9-2 to the Wildcats on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

McLane got a good showing from Cesar Trujillo Torres, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, McLane saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leland Flores, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. Flores has become a key player for the Highlanders: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 6-9 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Sanger waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Hornets by a score of 11-7.

Sanger's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for McLane, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
