After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, Homestead was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Fort Wayne Bishop Luers Knights. That's more bragging rights for the Spartans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Maddy Rodgers was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Addi Adams was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

With the win, Homestead broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 13-5. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-9 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Homestead will take on Woodlan in a tournament on Saturday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, they are taking a road trip to square off against Eastside at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
