Basketball Game Preview: Pflugerville Connally Cougars vs. Hendrickson Hawks

Pflugerville Connally hasn't had much luck against Hendrickson recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Pflugerville Connally Cougars will challenge the Hendrickson Hawks at 7:00 p.m. Hendrickson took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Pflugerville Connally, who comes in off a win.

Pflugerville Connally is headed into the contest having just posted their biggest victory since January 30, 2024 on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Elgin as Pflugerville Connally made off with a 57-35 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Cougars have posted against the Wildcats since January 27, 2021.

Pflugerville Connally's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aniya Toney, who almost dropped a double-double on 30 points and nine rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Toney has scored at least a third of Pflugerville Connally's points. Another player making a difference was Makrista Dolphus, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 boards.

Pflugerville Connally smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Hendrickson was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 43-39 to Pflugerville. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Pflugerville Connally took a serious blow against Hendrickson in their previous matchup on January 7th, falling 81-49. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Pflugerville Connally was down 45-25.
