Softball Recap: Pewaukee Starts Season with Victory Against Grafton

Pewaukee gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Grafton Black Hawks. For the Pirates, this counts as revenge for the 8-7 win the Black Hawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2023.

Samantha Brewster spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits.

At the plate, Pewaukee got a massive performance out of Hailey Hutchens, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Brewster, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Coincidentally, Pewaukee and Grafton will both be playing Catholic Memorial the next time they take the field. The Black Hawks will host the Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Pirates will host them at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
