Basketball Recap: Coconino Victorious

Coconino proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 48) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bradshaw Mountain Bears, sneaking past 30-28. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 40-34 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Shaylynn Billy was Coconino's leading scorer, having posted seven points.

Bradshaw Mountain lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kalli Smith, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 boards. That's the most rebounds Smith has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Presley Connolly, who posted seven points and ten boards.

Coconino is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-10 record this season. As for Bradshaw Mountain, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.

Coconino wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 54-38 loss against Cactus Shadows on the 17th. Bradshaw Mountain has also already played their next contest, a 61-42 defeat against Mingus on the 16th.
