Softball Recap: Maricopa Gets the Win

The Maricopa Rams beat the Pusch Ridge Christian Academy Lions 6-3 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rams.

Athena Nelson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 6.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since March 1st. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Alanee Calderon was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024.

Maricopa's win bumped their record up to 8-6-1. As for Pusch Ridge Christian Academy, their loss was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 6-7.

Maricopa didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 15-2 defeat against Canyon del Oro on the 28th. As for Pusch Ridge Christian Academy, they are taking a road trip to take on Cholla at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pusch Ridge Christian Academy's pitchers better be ready for this one: Cholla has averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season.
