Preview: Florence Christian Eagles vs. King's Academy Lions
Florence Christian is 5-0 against the Lions since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Florence Christian Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the King's Academy Lions at 6:30 p.m. Florence Christian is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Tuesday, Florence Christian came up short against the Bobcats and fell 41-28.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Emerson Poston, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lyla Broach, who scored four points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, King's Academy had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.4 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Marlboro Academy as King's Academy made off with a 48-22 victory.
Florence Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season. As for King's Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Florence Christian took their win against the Lions in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 43-22. The rematch might be a little tougher for Florence Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
