Softball Recap: Wednesday's Defeat Ends Altamont's Winning Streak

Altamont dropped their record down to 16-6 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell just short of Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg by a score of 1-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-0 back in April.

Grace Lemke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

As for Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games.

On Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg's side, Altamont's batters probably weren't too happy with Samantha Hayes, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 13 Ks (she gave up zero walks).

Coming up, Altamont will venture away from home to challenge Hutsonville/Palestine at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, they will challenge Nokomis at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
