Softball Recap: Alvarado Indians vs. Springtown Porcupines

If Alvarado was feeling good fresh off their 13-7 takedown of Graford on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Alvarado Indians fell 11-6 to the Springtown Porcupines on Friday. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Porcupines apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2022.

Kanyon Barlow was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Payton Slovak was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Alvarado's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Springtown, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Looking ahead, Alvarado will be taking part in a tournament against Benbrook at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Alvarado has given up an average of 7.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Springtown, they will take on Santo in a tournament on Saturday.
