Baseball Recap: Maranacook Drops Highest Score of Season Against Spruce Mountain

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Maranacook ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Spruce Mountain Phoenix 10-9. The Black Bears' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Maranacook got a great performance from Austin Tibbetts as he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, River Fallos was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Maranacook: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Alex Spaulding, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Maranacook hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spruce Mountain struck out seven times.

Maranacook's record now sits at 4-5. As for Spruce Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Coming up, Maranacook will be playing in front of their home fans against Oak Hill at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Black Bears are facing the Raiders at the right time seeing as the Raiders are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Spruce Mountain, they will head out on the road to square off against Dirigo at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
