Basketball Game Recap: Riverside-Durham Pirates vs. Hillside Hornets

Riverside-Durham lost against Hillside back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Riverside-Durham Pirates wound up with the same score they had in their last game (35-29), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Despite the defeat, Riverside-Durham saw an underclassman step up: freshman Au?Nehstii Hagans posted 18 points.

Mckenzy Green was the offensive standout of the game as she went 6 for 11 on her way to 19 points in addition to five boards and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Hillside's points. Dashae Smith also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Riverside-Durham has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Hillside, the victory snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 3-13 record.

Riverside-Durham didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 45-10 win against Cristo Rey Research Triangle on the 30th. As for Hillside, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 56-18 victory against Northern Durham on the 29th.
