Softball Recap: Columbus Blue Devils vs. Hardaway Hawks

Columbus never let their opponents score on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 15-0 margin over the Hardaway Hawks. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Emmie Jones made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Jones was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Emily Balauatin looked comfortable as she pitched an inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Chloe Hartzell was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. That stolen base marked the first that she's stolen this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Scott, who scored two runs.

Columbus' victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Hardaway, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-4 record.

Columbus is taking a road trip to square off against Shaw at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbus' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Shaw's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hardaway, they will host Sumter County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
